Pressure Equipment Inspection Technician (PEIT) Training
The kick off luncheon was held on Wednesday, November 29th, 2017 at The Calgary Petroleum Club to celebrate our latest program – Pressure Equipment Inspection Technician (PEIT) Training. This program was designed in coordination with the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), to address the shortage of entry-level Inspection Technicians in the inspection and integrity sectors.
CCIS’ Oil and Gas Training Programs is very proud to have earned the endorsement of Board Members from the International Pressure Equipment Integrity Association (IPEIA). After an extensive assessment of over 200 applications, the top candidates were selected by the recommendation of participating IPEIA and Industry members. The program is currently being delivered to 15 new Canadians and provides training for non-destructive testing (NDT), working towards the Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) certification. This certification is in congruence with NRCan guidelines and prepares participants for certification with American Petroleum Institute (API 510 and API 570).
The demand for qualified personnel to perform inspection and maintenance for the operation of pressure vessels and equipment will remain strong, as currently, major pipeline projects are under developmentand some are operational already in Alberta. For encouraging the economic development of the province of Alberta, we share our sincere gratitude to the Government of Canada and the Government of Alberta for their support of the PEIT program.
